Our Story and August updates
Solgave is a Norwegian word that directly translates to “Gift of the sun” and has a very altruistic meaning tied to a broader vision beyond animal care.
We have built it up, sold it to other owners after moving back to Europe, and in a strange twist of fate bought it back again, to rebuild one year prior to Covid.
After surfacing from those 2 strange years that had us questioning our future and ability to earn a living when travel and working at the office moved to working at home, we went all in on attempts to rebuild this company to its early visions.
Initially the vision was called “The Solgave Project” and was about healing the human spirit, naturally, through animals and nature. Ways of returning us to some primitive ways of connecting to the land, detoxing from technology, and letting animals guide us through healing as we learn to find balance within ourselves.
Solgave Animal Solutions is in its tenth year since launching, but because of the sale and repurchase along with Covid, it feels like the end of year 2!
In the last 18 months we have added 63 families! In the first 16 days of August, we have added 8! The growth acceleration is awesome to see, and it comes on the heels of a lot of hard work, amazing reviews, and passion for helping our community through our services with animals. We have added 3 team members and have a lead who has been with us well over a year now.
Year 1 (2012 when this idea turned into a real thing) we only worked with horses in Sweden! Essentially it was like pet sitting, leading them in and out, feeding, and cleaning the stalls. Once the decision was made to move back to the United States in 2013 and launch this brand back where I went to college, we hit the ground running. 2015 it was sold as moved back to Europe and I bought it back 2018 for a relaunch early 2019 and a return to our original set of goals.
We are building some new merch that will be available on the site, hats with the SAS logo, shirts and more! In the Fall we plan to bring back one pack walk, if not 2!
And we finally expand into Springdale this fall, with our first staff hire that can specifically help us there! Our team will be 4 deep for the first time in many years!
We are not the biggest, we are not the oldest, but we are driven to be authentically us and blend our passions of human development via our staff’s growth and professional animal care that gives our clients peace of mind when traveling.
